Elyse Gross has been practicing yoga for over 30 years. Yoga has guided her professional and personal life, through the most joyful of times and the most challenging. Elyse firmly believes in the power of yoga to transform one’s life with both subtle and dramatic shifts in mental and physical health and well-being.
Elyse continues to be inspired by many yoga teachers and hopes to inspire students to expand what is possible in their lives through the practice of yoga. Influenced by a wild blend of styles, Elyse brings lightheartedness into her classes. She will challenge what you think are your limits, while also helping you connect with how your body/mind might be feeling on any particular day, and embracing that energy in your practice.
Elyse’s commitment to social justice evolved into a lifelong career in non-profit organizations, including domestic violence programs, affordable housing development and social justice foundations. She found that a consistent yoga practice helped her to maintain a healthy stress level and a clear perspective in her work. Through her program Take it to the Street, Elyse is working to bring yoga to communities and individuals who have little or no access to yoga classes, particularly those who may be immobilized by poverty, substance abuse or trauma.
Elyse is a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher and is a member of the Yoga Alliance.
